Music artiste Sadat Mukiibi, also known as Khalifa Aganaga, has defected from the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. Aganaga, in company of Presidential advisor Jennifer Full Figure was received by NRM Director for Mobilization, Hon. Mathias Kasamba who secured him the NRM party card.
The Lubaga South MP aspirant attributes his departure from NUP and People Power to Blogger Fred Lumbuye whom he accuses of painting him an NRM mole in NUP for some good time. In addition, Aganaga’s rantings against the NUP leadership ignited when his fellow artiste, Joseph Mayanja well know as Dr. Jose Chameleone was denied the party Lord Mayor flag. A distressed Aganaga foretold his fate of being denied party flag for Lubaga South MP seat judging by what had happened to Chameleone and opted to defect before he suffers a political embarrassment in case he does not secure the NUP flag.
Kalifah also said that NUP lost direction ever since its administration became biased over some people who were interested in the party ticket. He added that he has defected so as to offer his services to the NRM. “I wish Kyagulanyi the best although I think he cannot overthrow Museveni.” Kalifa said.
Sources inside NUP however reveal that the singer triggered his own trouble when he voiced and released a music audio titled ‘Kibooko fire remix’ in which he dissed the party principal, Robert Kyagulanyi and urged Ugandans not to vote for him. In the lyrics, Aganaga persistently dissed and belittled the person of Bobi Wine using derogatory language. He however came out to disclaim the audio after it had gone viral across social media platforms mainly WhatsApp where it gained traction. Although Aganaga has declared himself a deserter, it remains uncertain as to whether he will refund back people’s money that he pocketed during a fundraiser he launched in late August.
