Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi, wife to National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wne has also flown to USA.
Its not clear if Barbie flew out on Monday night or Tuesday morning but our sources reveal that she left Entebbe International Airport using Qatar Airways. Barbie’s departure comes ahead of the planned city riots starting on Wednesday (tomorrow). Bobi Wine first flew his children out of the country on January 6th, 2021, a week to the general polls.
His four children; Kyagulanyi Sekayi Solomon Kampala, Mbogo Shadrack, Namagembe Shalom and Suubi Shine Nakayi flew out with the help of their aunt, Kyomuhimbo Asiimwe Jolly and their uncle, Rubahamya Baron. Kyomuhimbo and Ruhahamya are Barbie’s siblings. His wife, Barbie now joins the family in USA where they they are expected to be staying with one of Barbie’s sisters who works in the army in Texas. While at Entebbe Airport, Barbie wore a cap that nearly covered her face to avoid being recognized by other travelers.
Following his decision to have his family evacuated from Uganda, Kyagulanyi was highly criticized by some Ugandans who claimed that he had betrayed the struggle. Some critics interpreted the move, as sheer betrayal of the revolution by putting his family ahead of other families left in the country as most parents worry about the safety of their children if the election is not settled by the ballots in the box.
Whereas others supported his decision saying that any good and caring parent should do exactly that given the fact that his life and that of his family members may be in danger due to his critical role against government. Speaking about his decision, Bobi Wine said his family had endured a lot of challenges orchestrated by President Yoweri Museveni’s government.
He said, his children had been living in constant fear for the past three years and on several occasions, cars have been trailing them to and from school.
